British Shorthair
The cat that swept the London cat show.
The roots of the British Shorthair are in cats from over 2000 years ago that the Romans brought to England to hunt mice. In 1800, England had established the cat as a domestic breed of cats, and because of that, they won a lot of award at the 1871 London Cat Show. In 1901, the pedigree of the cat was officially registered to England. There was a time where its blue fur was so famous that they were called British Blues, but now there are a variety of colors. Their hair curls thinly and has a velvet-like feel.
